The Northern New York Community Foundation’s 2018 “Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge!” is closed.
Winners will be announced before the end of the year. We encourage you to check back as winning students present their grants and make visits to their chosen organizations.
About the challenge
In 2017, the Community Foundation selected 23 winning entries and awarded grants to 19 local organizations totaling $10,000 in support. The top grant was a $1,000 award to support Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown. The initiative strives to help students attending 7th or 8th grade in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties explore their concept of “community” and provide funding to local charitable organizations that exemplify and support what they feel makes their community a great place to live.
Students compete for a total of $10,000 in grant awards that the students, themselves, will recommend. The Community Foundation and Community Bank, N.A., provide funding for the program.
