you asked John B. Johnson about a name or place in Northern New
York, you received a history lesson. Born and raised in Watertown,
he was the North Country's staunchest advocate. He succeeded
his father as editor and publisher of the Watertown Times in 1949
and held those positions until his death in 2001. He brought
television to Watertown in the early 1950s. He was active
in and honored by many professional groups at the local, state
and national levels. Upon his death a fund in his name was
established at the Foundation.
John B. Johnson cared deeply for his community...You too can count on
the Northern New York Community Foundation to turn caring into commitment. We
make it easy to be a philanthropist now and for generations to come.
