Six Town Community Fund, Shaw Harbor Foundation Applications Due Friday, Nov. 13
WATERTOWN — The deadline to submit proposals for grant funding from two Community Foundation charitable funds is fast approaching.
Organizations seeking 2020 support from the Six Town Community Fund or the Shaw Harbor Foundation must submit proposals by Friday, Nov. 13, for consideration. Applications must be postmarked or received at the Northern New York Community Foundation, 131 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601, by the deadline.
The Six Town Community Fund will award up to $5,000 this year to nonprofit organizations serving the southern Jefferson County region. This geographic fund provides support for local projects, programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in the Six Town area. Eligible organizations should serve residents of the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman and Worth. Requests may focus on local needs related to health and wellness, families and youth, arts and culture, history, education and more.
The Six Town Community Fund was established in 2015 through the generosity of many donors as a permanent, charitable resource to support nonprofits serving southern Jefferson County. The community fund has awarded more than $30,000 to assist with 31 different community service projects and programs. These have included community improvement projects, youth programs, new events, equipment purchases, and facility upgrades. Projects are evaluated based on their overall community benefit, effective use of grant money, and the ability of the applicant to successfully implement the project.

Shaw Harbor Foundation
Nonprofits serving residents of Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties are encouraged to apply for up to $10,000 in funding through the Shaw Harbor Foundation, a Community Foundation charitable fund.
Special preference will be given to nonprofits serving Jefferson County residents of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, Worth, and Hounsfield. Organizations whose work supports investments in arts and culture, history, LGBTQ services and programs, and general activities, projects and initiatives that strive to make life better for all will receive additional consideration.
Adams Center native John S. McNeely established the Shaw Harbor Foundation as a permanent Community Foundation fund in 2017 to support and enhance the community where he and his family chose to grow a once small business into a thriving international firm. This is the first year the foundation will award grant funding to support local nonprofits.

Organizations eligible for funding must have confirmed 501(c)(3) nonprofit classification. Those that do not have this classification may partner with an eligible nonprofit organization, municipality, or entity to serve as a fiscal sponsor. Agencies seeking funding must confirm partnership with an eligible nonprofit organization or fiscal sponsor at the time a grant proposal is submitted.
