Funding Available to Support Tree Planting in City of Watertown

March 5, 2019 By admin

Community Foundation Announces 2019 Opportunities Through the Carolyn Whitney Fund

The Northern New York Community Foundation encourages nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $3,000 in 2019 grant funding for tree planting initiatives in the City of Watertown.

Grant support is made possible through a fund established by the estate of Carolyn Whitney.

In 2018, funding was awarded to the City of Watertown to plant approximately 40 trees as part of a fall project. Since 2010, the Carolyn Whitney Fund at the Community Foundation has awarded more than $28,000 in grant support for 10 tree planting projects.

The deadline to submit an application for consideration is Friday, April 19, 2019. Grant awards will be announced following the Community Foundation’s quarterly board meeting in June. Contact Max DelSignore, Community Foundation assistant director, 315-782-7110, or max@nnycf.org to obtain grant guidelines or to learn more.

About the Northern New York Community Foundation

Since 1929, the Northern New York Community Foundation has invested in improving and enriching the quality of life in communities across Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.

Through partnerships with businesses and organizations, generous individual donors and families, and charitable foundations, the Community Foundation awards grants and scholarships from an endowment and collection of funds that benefit the region. Its commitment to donors helps individuals achieve their charitable objectives now and for generations to come by preserving enduring legacies of community philanthropy while inspiring others.

The Community Foundation is a resource for donors, local charitable organizations, and professional advisors. It also works to bring people together at its permanent home in the Northern New York Philanthropy Center to discuss challenges our communities face and find creative solutions that strengthen the region and make it a great place to live, work, and play.
